Favorite restaurant blog posting project 4-23-14

My favorite restaurant to eat at would probably have to be the Hard Rock Cafe on 1501 Broadway in New York, NY 10036. The type of food they serve is normal foods like burgers, salads, sandwiches, steaks, sea food, etc. My favorite dish from here is the hickory barbecue bacon cheese burger. The history of this restaurant is a chain restaurant founded by isaac tigrett and peter morton two enterprising and music loving americans. The hard rock cafe is my favorite restaurant because i like the kind of music they play, i like the food and the waiters/waitresses are very nice plus the hard rock just has a good vibe when you walk in, it makes you feel like you can be yourself and sing along to whatevers playing because mostly everyone knows it, its just a fun experience really. If the hard rock closed down i would probably go to the texas roadhouse, despite the awful country music (i guess country music isn't my thing but i'll deal) they have really good food and like the hard rock the waiters/waitresses are very nice

QUESTIONS
  1. How can a wiki be used in your current classes? (tip: Use the Internet, here is a good source). Be specific to your classes!
  2. What are the benefits of using a wiki?
  3. How can we create one in this class and utilize it?
  4. What experience do you have using or creating wikis?
ANSWERS

1. Wiki can be used in most of my current classes for group or single projects.

2. The benefits of using a wiki is that you can add or edit things that someone else put there either if its incorrect or just needs more information.

3. We can create a wiki in this class for many things like information on new technology or a class project, but we wouldn't all need to email ideas to each other we would just put it on the wiki.

4. The wikis I have used are wikipedia and wikidot.

Do Now: wiki 3/31/14

What are wiki's? What wiki's have you used? How can a wiki be used in education?

A wiki is a website where you can post projects, classwork or homework and add different sized text, pictures and fonts. Its kind of like blogger but not a blog, you only go on it when you need to and you don't need to update it at certain times. I have used ms. Garvins wikidot for projects on world history. Wiki's can be used in education for like i said before, projects, classwork and homework.

Invisibility

If I had an invisibility cloak for a day I would probably do lots of nice things! I would go around the city and help people, if they lost something I would try and find it for them, if they didn't have enough money to buy something I'd slip a few bucks in their pocket, or if they are looking kind of sad I'd find a way to make them happy! Also I would listen to the things that they like or want and I would try and get it for them and put it in something cheesy like a box that says their name or in their mailbox that say's it's from unknown.
Mostly I'd want to make people smile because not enough people smile in the world, everyone looks at the bad side of things like if it started to rain people would be so miserable, instead of getting upset about it look at the bright side, listen to the rain, watch how it falls, realize how much of a wonderful smell it has, and as they all say after a rain shower comes a rainbow. Stay positive!! And smile more! :+)

Do Now 3/5/14

I can use a spreadsheet in my other classes like financial literacy (we already did one), biology, history and most of my other classes because spreadsheets can be an easier way to organize your work and make things a whole lot easier for you. In financial literacy we used a spreadsheet to determine the monthly budget of a persons expenses. So basically spreadsheets are a way to organize or determine the things you do.

Educational Technology and Copyright Law

What i learned from this article was that automatically after you create something it is already copyrighted, even your doodles, if you wanted to make your drawing a t-shirt design the actual copyright information doesn't need to be on paper because as soon as you start drawing its copyrighted.

New 3D features on touch screen surfaces

By altering the friction encountered by a person's fingertip, a new formula developed by Disney can create the perception of a 3D bump on a touch surface, without having to physically move the surface. This method can be used to simulate the feel of a wide variety of objects and textures.

In the experiments, the researchers used electrovibration to adjust the friction between the sliding finger and the touch surface with electrostatic forces. They created and validated a "psycho-physical model" that closely simulates friction forces perceived by the human finger when it slides over a real bump. "Touch interaction has become the standard for smartphones, tablets and even desktop computers, so designing algorithms that can convert the visual content into believable tactile sensations has immense potential for enriching the user experience," Poupyrev said. "We believe our algorithm will make it possible to render rich tactile information over visual content and that this will lead to new applications for tactile displays.

Ms. Garvin
1st period class

In Ms. Garvins class I expected to learn more about our world history and who helped us get where we are today, as in technology, vehicles, ways of life and etc. and i have learned just that and more.
Ms. Garvins grading policy is 40%- Summative Assessments o (65% from tests and 35% DBQ Essays) • 40%- Performance Based Assessments o (20% in-class assessments and 80% from projects) • 20%- Homework/Classwork (Including participation)
*Either a Summative or Performance Based Assessment will be provided every 5 days.
An interesting aspect of the class that i like is when we watch historical videos or videos on the past because i like to learn about how people used to live.
Some technology used in the class is when we do most of our homework on line and turn it in through an email which i think is very helpful because students cant use the excuse "i lost it" or "i forgot my homework"

Worlds first multi-material, full color 3D printer

Worlds first multi-material, full color 3D printer

Stratasys Ltd. has announced the launch of its ground-breaking Objet500 Connex3, the first and only machine to combine colours with multi-material 3D printing.

The ability to achieve the characteristics of an assembled part without assembly or painting is a significant time-saver, helping manufacturers to go over designs and make decisions earlier before committing to manufacturing, and bringing products to market 50% faster causing the product to have a better chance of working and a higher performance rate.

"Stratasys' goal is to help our customers revolutionise their design and manufacturing processes," says Stratasys CEO, David Reis. "I believe our new Objet500 Connex3 Colour Multi-material 3D Printer will transform the way our customers design, engineer and manufacture new products. In general and with Connex technology in particular, we will continue to push the envelope of what's possible in a 3D world."
